July Useless Observations
Hello,
Every highlight on the Sportscenter Top 10 is either a baseball catch, a home run, or a WNBA layup which means we’ve finally hit July. Before we all celebrate Independence Day, it’s time to reflect on another month that has come and gone. I like to do this via Useless Observations newsletters, and this month is no different. Last month’s edition can be found here, but let’s get into it now so that we can enjoy BBQ tomorrow.
UO #1: There are two types of people in this world: those that brush their teeth at work, and those that don’t. Which one are you?
UO #2: It bothers me whenever someone goes into a packed room, such as a theatre or auditorium, and doesn’t turn their phones on silent. It screams a sense of entitlement, a lack of common courtesy, amnesia, or all of the above. And without a doubt, those people will always get a phone call during the event.
UO #3: When I was growing up, I was a massive fan of the group The Fugees. Their album The Score is iconic, and I enjoyed their solo work such as The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. If you would’ve told me that all three of them would be disgraced, bankrupt, or in prison in 2023 I wouldn’t have believed you.
UO #4: Throughout history, there are several examples of the Mandela Effect or the remembering of false events that never occurred. This was named after people mistakenly believed that Nelson Mandela had died when he was still alive at that time. The pop culture event that I seem to remember differently than what happened is Mariah Carey being married to Nick Cannon for eight years. I refuse to believe this happened, even though they have two children.
UO #5: As someone who grew up in a coastal town, we let drawbridges have way too much control over our lives. The idea that one boat can completely derail traffic for the day is outrageous.
